2020, the year no one asked for…

In early 2020, just before the pandemic, and with no warning or precedent, the long, thick hair I was pretty vain about started to fall out in fistfuls. I had developed an unusual form of diffuse alopecia areata and, in a few weeks all (and only) the dark hair on my head fell out, leaving me with the white and silver hair I’d never dyed. Fortunately I know great people who showed up for me, (safely, and fully masked.)

My friend and stylist-extraordinaire, Tiffany Anderson made what was left zaddy-cool, and my other friend, the amazing Joe Mazza said “YOU LOOK FANTASTIC!” and with his snappy soul-catcher, immortalized the new lid and the new suit I’d splurged on (only time I dressed up in 2020).

2020 was an awful year, and other than this bizarre incident I was healthy, had a home, had some employment to pay the bills, and over all was very lucky. This was a terrible shock, but it was nothing compared to what we went through as a nation. I am grateful for what I did not lose.
